In Memoriam
Edmond "Bud" Godreau
It saddens me greatly to share the news that Edmond "Bud" Godreau passed away on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016.
Bud was High Strung's luthier for many years, setting up and repairing bowed instruments; rehairing cello, viola and violin bows; repairing, playing and teaching banjo. Bud graced us all with intelligence, wit, compassion and the desire to "heal" every instrument that came across his bench. He set a high standard that we still strive to meet daily.
Bud was -- in his prior life -- a NASA engineer, one of the founders of Connecticut's first old time radio programs, and a chili cook-off judge! He loved to travel, and enjoyed visiting places as diverse as Paris and the Grand Canyon. He was an avid Gators fan, and made the High Strung staff all "honorary Gators" (complete with certificates) for the duration of the 2009 Bowl Game.
We will miss Bud. We will miss him wearing his Santa hat at the bench every day between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We will miss him beating us all at bowling at our staff outings. We will miss his lively interest in everything around him. But we rejoice in having had the privilege to know and work with such a wonderful man.
