| We carry a wide selection of new and used violins, violas and cellos. All of our entry level and most of our intermediate level instruments come as a complete package: instrument, bow, case or bag, rosin and cleaning cloth. Better quality cases and bows are always available as an upgrade. Every instrument, regardless of its price, gets the same professional set-up by Edmond "Bud" Godreau, our resident bowed-string luthier. At High Strung, we feel passionately that beginners need an instrument that is easy to play and sounds its best. There's nothing worse than trying to learn the complexities of violin on an instrument that's fighting you. Bud has worked in violin building and restoration for thirty years. (If he can't fix it, it probably isn't broken!) Our instruments and bows are selected by Christine and Lee from vendors who visit the shop several times a year with their wares. If we don't like it, we won't buy it. Our close relationship with Durham and Chapel Hill strings teachers ensures that we stock high quality small violins that meet their standards. We are proud to help support the many wonderful strings programs offered through the public and private schools in our area. |
