The High Strung Mission
- High Strung Violins & Guitars, LLC is owned by Christine Spiak
and Lee Raymond.
Our mission is to provide good quality, affordable instruments
to beginning and intermediate players, in a supportive
environment. Instrument "match-making" is our specialty!
Our History:
High Strung began as a repair shop on the second floor at the
corner of 9th and Perry in Durham, NC about 25 years ago.
The store has changed hands and changed purpose several
times throughout the years, moving from instrument repair to
instrument building and now to a balance of retail and repair.
Four years ago we changed location, too, and now have a
beautiful shop on 9th Street. Visit us and see!
Our Goals for 2008 are:
- to extend our selection of books, with an emphasis
on publications not available at every music store.

- to continue to be Durham's best resource for
student bowed instrument rentals, repairs and
sales. Our commitment to the beginning and
intermediate strings player remains the driving force
of High Strung Violins & Guitars! - to make our web site more useful to customers,
existing and new. We know everybody researches
on the web now - we want to be a go-to site for info
on instruments, playing styles, learning
opportunities, and current events.
