Ukuleles, how we love you! And there's
no uke band we love more than the
Durham Ukulele Orchestra.
Joe Troop! Fiddle player, but you can't
pigeon-hole Joe like that. Improv, Jazz,
Old Time, Blue Grass, Spanish, Indian,
Celtic, Hip Hop, Middle-eastern, you
name it, Joe will play it (and curl your
toes with pleasure doing it.)
Lee is not just my business partner, she's
my sister. And we've done the bickering
to prove it. (Ok, she's not really my sister.
And we really don't bicker that much, but
only because I'm so perfect there's not
much to complain about.) Here's a very
funny song Lee wrote. Lee's Lyrics.
Skeedaddle - we love them not just
because Anastasia plays a banjolele, but
because Fred, who plays in about 700
different bands, used to hang out at our
shop when he was doing his laundry
down on Ninth Street. And Hugh first
turned me on to the Cigano gypsy jazz
guitar. Oh yeah, and we sell Steve's
Capon Capo in the shop.
Carolina Chocolate Drops (Go Rhiannon!
Fiddle on girl!) This band has bought
several interesting instruments from us...
and I remember when Dom first
materialized with his banjo on Ninth
Street. It was about the same time I
materialized at High Strung.
John Darnelle (purchased a Larrivee and
a consignment Rainsong from us!) His
Band is the Mountain Goats.
Jon Shain, local hero! Teaches a mean
workshop. I leave every showing feeling
satisfied, like I had a good meal with a
great bottle of wine.
Club Boheme - Fred Levine's in this one,
too. But so are several really great area
musicians - and they've got flair, and
Shelley.
